Well, finally it’s here! 18c for on-premise installation so the world can all get stuck into the cool new features of the latest release on their own laptops At least that is what I’ll be doing!
Naturally as soon as I heard the news, I downloaded the software and got ready to set aside the day for installation and creation of an 18c database. But I didn’t need that long – I didn’t need that long at all. Just a few clicks and a few commands and there it was – my 18c database up and running.
Check out how easy it is with my three videos.
It really is as easy as 1…2…3
Enjoy 18c !
Is the Win64 on-premises version also coming ?
It would be great if you could also present the equivalent steps for the Win 64 installation.
And, maybe more generally, to present a short guide for non-DBA-s, presenting the pros and cons
of using a VirtualBox Linux installation vs a local installation on a Win 64 machine,
including minimal admin steps that a user is expected to perform for keeping the database up and running
without any problems.
And, of course, the expected 18c XE also should come into this equation 🙂
I personally am still not able to decide which one is “easier to live with” for a non-dba-developer !
Thanks a lot and Best Regards,
Win is on its way.
In terms of the other stuff – I’ll add this to the list to cover in next months Office Hours
