If you’ve stumbled across this blog trying to get started with a local installation of Oracle database for some personal development, then firstly, welcome!
Secondly, it can be a little daunting to get up to speed, so here’s a little video that will walk though the process of download, installing and getting up and running with Oracle database on a Windows laptop/desktop. It’s a lot easier than you think.
This is helpful for a refresher or for a newbie. However the installation process is lot more complicated than what it should be on Linux/Unix where you need to deal with installation of the X-windows on the client (mostly Windows). This becomes more complicated when there is a firewall, and/or when direct access to oracle isn’t allowed (only sudo)
In my view it is high time Oracle has moved to a web based installation.
