Analytic Functions [UGF7455]
Analytics have been with us since Oracle8i Database Release 2 (8.1.6), but they are still dramatically underused by application developers. This session looks at the syntax and usage of analytic functions and how they can supercharge your SQL skill set.
SQL Tuning 101 [CON7457]
It’s the age-old problem: the SQL statement that needs to run in 5 seconds unfortunately runs in 10 seconds or 10 minutes, or 10 hours. A SQL statement is e-mailed to you with the simple subject line “Make it faster!”. This presentation starts from this point in the process and looks at what you can do to tackle this common issue.
Optimizer Statistics: A Fresh Approach [CON7442]
The optimizer must try to be all things to all people, and similarly, the collection of optimizer statistics must try to satisfy the needs of all. And many DBAs just leave it at that. But the optimizer offers so much more than that. With a little more effort and discipline, we can achieve much more than a one-size-fits-all policy and maximize the benefits of all of the optimizer features. This session looks at the tools now available under DBMS_STATS to provide more stability and better performance with optimizer statistics.
